Bittersweet Awesomeness...

EarthDay Event at TCC NE Campus....every year from now on?? YES!

As Avon Reps, we have the opportunity to be a party of many different shows/events/etc.  There are events.  And then...there are EVENTS!!  This...was one of those! :)

Scene 1: I arrived a bit late (partly due to well needed allergy meds and mostly due to disgusting traffic on Loop 820), late nonetheless.  So there is unloading, walking the fairway looking for my little table marked AVON.  Notta. :(  Ok...lets ask someone.  That person sent me to another section, someone there sent me to another section, someone there sent me to another section and pointed to a woman in a purple top.  She leads me to a table and says it is for me...although there are some really unhappy looking professionals with suitcases on wheels standing in front of it.  "Are you sure this is my table?"  She assures me it is and rounds up some of the girls in the fraternity to help carry in all my goodies.

Scene 2: I point to my car (with the pink AVON license plates) and we all gather up a few boxes and back to my table...where the unhappy looking professionals are still standing?  I have all my boxes and a frat girl guarding my goodies - so I can go move my car to the "approved parking section".  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 steps and then "eeeeeerk!" You could hear me put on the brakes as I literally stop dumbfounded in front of another AVON booth...just two tables down!!? What? Crap.  What to do now?  Leave?  Stay?  Say hi?  Well...for now - keep moving because my car is in the "loading only" zone.  Hop in the car and make an immediate phone call to ask what I should do.  I was praised, motivated and re-energized.  Of course I'm staying!!  So off to set up my booth. :)

Scene 3:  All set up.  The only thing seperating me from the other AVON booth is a Scentsy table and a Mary Kay table.  The 2 ladies manning the table were sitting behind it - I was in front of mine handing out goodie bags, generating interest in the products I had on display and chatting it up with the booths on either side of me.  An hour later - the ladies at the other Avon booth had decided to give out goodie bags too - but were still standing behind the booth.  From that point on - if someone came by my booth after passing theirs I looked to see if they had one of their bags.  If not, I smiled and invited them over.  If so, I smiled and looked to the next person.  I don't want to be "that girl" so no competing!  In addition I sent a message to the DJ asking for a shout out. He announced that I had SSS Bug Guard and Suncscreen for sale at my table.  "Go see Cat the Avon Gal" he said.  Lovin' it!

Scene 4: I am having such a GREAT time!!  Here is the scoop: Trendy/Hip DJ, good music, The Cupid Shuffle, mud wrestling (in pottery clay), Star Wars light saber duels, zombies (yes! walking all around and even doing the Thriller dance!!), lots of traffic, good conversation, more dancing and just plain FUN!!  Turns out...the unhappy business people?  Bankers moved to the next table over (off the main walkway) so I could have thier table.  Why?  Because the only other available one was right next to the other Avon table.

Scene 5: An hour before the show ends - the other Avon booth is gone!  I was having so much fun I didn't even see them leave!  Not me...still kickin!  Overall I received tons of contacts, 2 potential recruits and several networking contacts.  GOOD STUFF!

Scene 6: Time to put my booth away and go home.  I am beat!!  Whew!  What a day.  Why am I so tired?!  Pack it up.  Load it up.  In the car. Done. :) ....wait a minute.....something doesn't feel right.

Scene 7:  Phone call from a woman that sold Avon for 36 years just got a book from her grandaughter and wants to place an order.  Sweet!

Scene 8: EPIC FAIL!!!!  What Avon lady (that happens to be red-headed & fair skinned) sets up her booth at an outdoors event (although she thought it was going to be indoors) makes it a point to display and announce that she is selling SSS Bug Guard with Sunscreen - and doesn't apply it to herself?!!! <------THIS ONE. :~( UGH!!!!!!!!  What a moron!!  Yep.  Sunburned.  Bad. :(  Clothes hurt, shower hurts...heck even the aloe with lanocain hurts. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

So...lesson learned.  Painfully.  Still...the day as a whole? A.W.E.S.O.M.E.  Bittersweet...but Awesome! :)

This week in my Avon world... :)

Wow!  What a week!!  Here are some of the highlights...

  • First, I would like to welcome Bonnie Tyler to our team!  She has been a friend of mine since 9th grade and I am looking forward on being able to see her more often! :)  In addition her sister, Melissa, is a Scentsy Rep.  So any of you Scentsy lovin ladies out there that need a new rep, click HERE and her Scentsy page will open in a new window!  Let's support our fellow WAHM's!! :)
  • Candace Rothlis through a huge birthday party and invited lots of friends over!  The party theme was Lady Gaga...and let me tell you the decorations were kickin! She handed out her new Avon books and is looking forward to hearing back from some of those friends soon! :)
  • Krystal Brown placed her first order in C9 and it was over $200!! Way to go Krystal!!  You are rocking this Avon thing! :)
  • Sarah Tell is all signed up and ready to go!  Her first LOA will be C10 and I can't wait to see the amazing things she can do.  I have known Sarah for a bit now and she is the type of amazing, motivated, bust her hiney - kinda gal we all want to be!!  Looking forward to watching her grow with this company!! :)
  • Courtney Roark has been enjoying the nice weather with her family and plans to sign up soon.  Looking forward to adding her to the team! :)
  • Alysa Hutson set a personal goal this week and secured 3 new orders and was able to get a pretty sweet head start on C10!  She is doing fantastic!!
  • Courtney Lester had her brand new bouncing baby girl!!  Miss Phoebe made her appearance at 7:48am on April 13, 2012.  She weighed 7 pounds and was 19 1/4 inches long!  And beleive it or not mommy was back on the computer "checking in" at her Avon Office on Facebook just 3 days later!!  Welcome little Miss Phoembe <3
  • Karen Atkins placed another fantastic order in C9!  Kudos Karen!  Her mom has been in and out of the hospital and she is still keeping her business up!  So for all of you that believe in the power of prayer lets keep Karen and her mom lifted up!
The Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser booth I had this past Saturday at the nail salon wasn't a huge success, but a success none-the-less.  I raised $11 ($7 of that being an online donation from a fellow WAHM from Facebook (thank you Cassie Ped!  You can check out her page and amazing products by clicking HERE and a new window will open up.)  I gave the owner a gift of 4 bottles of nail polish for letting me set the booth up and not charging a fee.  I gave her the pink Breast Cancer Awareness Polish (of course) and 3 of our brightest Spring Colors - hoping she'll put them out and generate an interest.  I gained around 10 potential customer leads from the drawing I held and probably handed out about 20 goodie bags with my card, books & samples.  My daughter sat with me at the booth and if nothing else I enjoyed that. :)  So all in all - even though I would have LOVED to have raised more money - I would call it a success.  And I can't wait to do another one. :)
  • I purchased some window crayons and decorations and am trying to figure out exactly how I want to decorate my car for the SSS Bug Guard contest!  If any of you gals on my team want more info on that, just let me know! :)
  • I was finally able to order samples of the Derek Jeter colognes coming out!  I can't wait to be able to sell this cologne!!  My goal is to sell 60 by Father's Day!  We'll see....
  • And this morning I started a new contest for my girls!!  It's called Today's Idea.  Interested?  Check it out on my group page: Cat's Gals
Ok...so that is about it!  Much love to ya all and more info to come soon!!! :)

1 Amazing Year with AVON!! :) Happy Anniversary to me!

Hello peeps! :)  Whew....tons going on!!  And SO HAPPY to report it all! :)  So here we go...
  • April 11, 2011 - I joined AVON as an Independent Sales Representative one year ago today. :)  What an AMAZING year it has been! :)  In my first year I hit many of my personal goals, made Presidents Club, became a Unit Leader and now am the leader of a group of 15 ladies as of this Saturday!! :)  What a ride this has been.  When I post on this page next year at this time I expect to be reporting even greater things!  Just like the title of my blog says...I am SEUL bound...are you?
  • I earned 3 new additions to my team through AVON's Nesting program.  Welcome Karen Atkins, Jean Bonner & Yolanda Cox!
  • Alysa Hutson was able to make it to her first official meeting! :)
  • Amy Diaz found me online and signed up last week and will be placing her first order in C9.
  • Bonnie Tyler is joining our team tonight! :)
  • Candice Rothlis is an old friend of Daddy-O's family and a friend of mine for about 5 years and has just resigned up with Avon.  :)
  • Jessica Deane (in Austin Texas) joined our team and is working hard on coming up with marketing ideas!  Her email is jessicadeane.order@gmail.com if any of you want to give her ideas or motivation! :)
  • Krystal Brown joined our team!  Her husband and I work together on Friday's and he mentioned his wife was looking for "something to do" so of course...I suggested Avon.  And now she is very motivated and already doing great!
  • Sarah Tell has been a customer of mine for some time and is finally joining the ranks! :)  Her husband's grandmother has been selling Avon for over 20 years and his mom use to be a Rep.  So Sarah wants to keep in the family ! :)
  • Courtney Roark is joining our team this Saturday and will mostly be running an e-business for her out of state family and friends.
  • Saturday, April 14th, I am hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser at my local nail salon!  Cool Nails at 9324 Clifford St, Fort Worth (White Settlement) Texas, 76108.  I will be there from 10 am to at least 3 pm.  Depending on the flow of people, I may stay until 5:00 :)  So come see me and enter your name in the drawing for free Avon products and a free Pedicure!
  • Met the Division Manager - Emily Ashmore.  She has an awesome personality and just the right kind of attitude it takes to lead us to success!! She has been in the Avon family since she was 3 years old in some form or fashion and I am excited to be able to work with someone with so much enthusiasm!
  • Avon has some fantastic incentives coming up!!  I am looking forward to both the SSS Bug Guard and Derek Jeter sales we will be having over the course of the Summer.

That's it for the last few days.  Can't wait to report back with my Fundraising success'!  Happy Avon'ing ya'll! <3 Cat

Want More Customers? Try Resident Appreciation!

Just as a reminder: I'm a talker.  So it's safe to say my blog entries will usually have a mini story behind them.  Just an FYI...lol. ;-)

So today....was Taco Tuesday! Yumm-o!!  For those of you that do not know what that means - Rosa's Cafe (a local eatery) has a special taco plate on sale for only $3.29 every Tuesday!  And that is what got my AVON day started.  But I'll get to that in a bit...first I'll take a mommy minute...

6:30 am - This morning when I woke up I did not feel at all rested and my back was killing me!  I'm not real sure what was going on.  Since we got this new 4 inch foam topper for the bed, I have been sleeping very soundly!  At any rate - I said goodbye to the 12 year old as he set off to walk to school and sat on the sofa and tried to go through email and text messages on my iPad while yelling every 5 minutes, "Big Kid #2, come on!!  We have to go!".

Hi There!

My name is Cat Clayton. I am a Unit Leader and Independent Representative with AVON.  I started with AVON in April 2011 and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my job!! I started this page for my team to visit and read about my day to day activities, events & ideas - and how they affect my every day life as a mom! The overall idea is to motivate my team to look into Leadership. The website address to this blog is www.SEULbound.blogspot.com. And that is EXACTLY what I am!! Senior Executive Unit Leader Bound!!!!! :) So save it, bookmark it and visit it often! I will try to post every night...but I make no promises... Sometimes after a long day of AVON'ing my body needs rest! Although I tend to lay in bed and think about new great ideas...lol. So happy AVON'ing to ya! Can't wait to throw a big "I'm an SEUL party!!"  And what a big, big, big party it will be. :-) <3
